DEPARTMENT SPOTLIGHT

Hoover Police Department, Hoover, AL

When the Hoover Police Department looked to create a truly unique custom badge in 2007 they turned to Smith & Warren. Their mission was to create a badge that was a unique and recognizable symbol that members of the Hoover Police Department could wear with pride.

Members of the Hoover Police command staff worked with Lee Galperin and the Smith & Warren graphic design team to create an oval style badge, with applied panels including a very distinctive front facing eagle.

Recently the Hoover Police Department designed and began using a new high tech credential card. Once again, the Hoover Police Department reached out to Smith & Warren to design and produce a smaller version of their full size uniform badge for use with their new custom credentials. The challenge was to create a badge that was just as visually impressive as the full size, applied panel breast badge, but in a 1 piece integrated design. Through the use of new technology and manufacturing methods, Smith & Warren was able to respond to this challenge.  A smaller 1 piece wallet badge was produced that had the same detail and appearance of depth as the full size badge.  Smith & Warren has been using this same technology and design method to produce many other custom badges.  By making custom badges in one piece Smith & Warren has been able to achieve levels of detail and 3D sculpture that would never have been achievable in the past with applied panels.  In addition Smith & Warren worked with Hoover Police to design a fully custom leather credential and badge case.  Smith & Warren constantly explores new manufacturing technology, and new ways to satisfy the needs of our public safety customers.
